Marie-France Guerrette | Founder & Executive Producer
As a documentary filmmaker, Marie-France is fascinated by the human condition and is compelled by who we are and why we do the things we do. Her documentary career began in 2008 when she directed her first short French language documentaries with the NFB / ONF MON PÈRE, LE ROI and her second in 2010 LE CHOEUR D'UNE CULTURE. Since then she has garnered multiple nominations and awards including a Golden Sheaf award from the Yorkton Film Festival for THE SECRET LIFE OF PIANOS. Currently, she is producing and directing multiple projects including : a one-off French language documentary entitled LES CORDES DE LA VICTOIRE ; a documentary series of Telus Originals short docs called HOW TO BE FRENCH; and is in production on the second season of their 6 x 52min documentary series COW-BOY URBAIN. In 2019, her feature length documentary produced by the National Film Board of Canada UNMOTHERED had a successful festival release and national television broadcast on TV5/UnisTV. UNMOTHERED garnered several nominations and was awarded “Best Canadian Feature” at NorthWest Fest International Documentary Festival. Marie-France has been on various arts boards including the board of DOC Alberta, the Alberta chapter of the Documentary Organization of Canada and the Regroupement Artistique Francophone de l’Alberta.
